Hi,

when clicking on build PXE default I get an error:

failed to process template: Safemode doesn't allow to access 'constant' on Redhat

Any ideas? Also it would be nice to have some documentation how to deploy solaris sparc machines.

REgards,

Oli

Ok, got it solved. I disabled the safe option under foreman-settings in the webgui.

Noted that on Oneiric (11.10) I needed to change the db:migrate command from:

rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production

to

RAILS_ENV=production rake db:migrate

Also, before being able to add a subnet in 4.2-stable, you have to create a domain first, so the DNS config should probably come before the DHCP config :)

Thank you so very much for this article though. The net is a bit bare on Foreman information (the IRC channel is awesome though) and your article made diving into Foreman that much easier.

If it's OK with you I'd like to post an article based off of the information I've gathered from reading yours, combined with my own experiences? I'll post full cred to you if you give the OK :)

Hi,

when clicking on build PXE default I get an error:

No TFTP proxies defined, can't continue

But on foreman page i see, that feature tftp is pupported

Any ideas?

Hello,
I think the best way to solve your problem is to ask directly to the user community in sending email with your complete log information to foreman-users@googlegroups.com or on IRC #theforeman (irc.freenode.net)

hi, goog artical,I encountered a issue for some days, after hitting the "Build PXE Default button", foreman create a default file, bellows is the content:

DEFAULT menu
PROMPT 0
MENU TITLE PXE Menu
TIMEOUT 200
TOTALTIMEOUT 6000
ONTIMEOUT local

LABEL local
MENU LABEL (local)
MENU DEFAULT
LOCALBOOT 0

the client couldn't be installed with error:

Couldn't find kernel image: menu

any idear about this?

thanks,

FLEG

The foreman repos have changed. You shoud correct the line by :

echo "deb http://deb.theforeman.org/ squeeze stable" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/foreman.list

FLEG

When I did

cd /usr/share/foreman
rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production

I used to have the following error :

rake aborted!
uninitialized constant Rake::DSL

To solve it I had to modify the /usr/share/foreman/Rakefile as following :

require File.expand_path('../config/application', __FILE__)
require 'rake/dsl_definition'
require 'rake'
include Rake::DSL
Foreman::Application.load_tasks

In the TFTP configuration section you says:
To do this we will use the Foreman templating.

Go to the Web interface, in Provisioning Templates: a template named "PXE Default File" should be present
Click on "Build PXE Default button", and Foreman will create a default file in /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default
The TFTP server is now up and running

If you do that directly, you will get an error mentioned before :
No TFTP proxies defined, can't continue

To fix that you should do before :
- Create a domain where you would like to deploy your host on
- Create a subnet, and select the relevant domain and smart proxy in it.
- Create a host, select the domain / subnet etc

(cf: http://theforeman.org/issues/794)

Mis à jour.

Website Design

We know that Foreman is really powerful, but we can go even further with its full REST API, libvirt integration and so on and can use it in a more better way.

Pygmay

Hi,
I just read and applied your article, which very clear, good job.

But I got a problem, my foreman-proxy service does not start. I got this message : "WARNING: Missing SSL setup, working in clear text mode !"

Has anyone an issues with this ? Thanks.

phylyx

Hi Pygmay,

I was facing the same problem as you. There are two options:
1) using foreman-proxy without SSL (I do not recommend this)
2) setting up SSL for foreman-proxy. To do so follow this instructions

-> http://projects.theforeman.org/projects/smart-proxy/wiki/Settingsyml
-> http://projects.theforeman.org/projects/smart-proxy/wiki/SSL

Cheers

Pygmay

Hello Phylyx !

Thanks a lot for your help, I'll try to run into it asap.
I appreciate :)
Cheers
